Circuit Festival, one of the world’s largest gay events, kicked off in Barcelona on Thursday. Running until Sunday 19 August, the programme includes more than a dozen parties featuring top international DJs as well as cultural activities including art exhibitions, film screenings, panels & workshops, shows, as well as fitness & sporting events.
Between 50 – 60,000 people are expected to attend this year’s edition of the festival, adding to the extra visitors to the tourists already visiting the city these days.
Businesses in ‘Gaixample’, an area in Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood known for its gay-targeted fashion stores, barbers, and hotels, expect to see their sales grow by 30-40%. According to stores, the economical impact of the Circuit Festival includes 350 direct jobs as well as 200 indirect ones.
