Madrid Games Week confirms presence of cosplay stars

Cosplay fans have a golden opportunity at Madrid Games Week (18 to 21 October). To date, several national stars have been confirmed, including AuxiRapture, Bel, Jillstyler, Kiddo, Mina, Nami Cosplay, Necroquantum and Prnze, as well as Ori from Serbia, renowned for his Commander Smith cosplay and for being a “tireless defender of his hobby in a region where being different is not looked upon kindly”. Also appearing from abroad will be Stryker from Miami, recognised for his “thematic weeks” where he has been transformed into surprising incarnations of iconic characters from Disney and Cartoon Network.

If you weren’t already aware, cosplay is the practice of performing and interpreting an invented character or one from popular culture, mainly manga and video games. The most outstanding fans have achieved a level of detail and uncanniness with their characters that has made them into role models for the fans of the series they’re based on and the cosplay scene in general. Their social media accounts have thousands of followers where visitors can learn about these live performances of their favourite characters.

Their cosplays for the Fair are still top secret. Those who know them will have seen performances of American comic book heroes such as Spiderman or characters from the Batman universe, characters from video games like League of Legends, and, of course, manga and anime characters like Naruto or Bleach.

Madrid Games Week visitors can meet the biggest stars of the moment and attend meetings and talks where they can learn their tricks in areas such as make-up, cosplay performance and accessories. Ori and Stryker will also be star judges for the ‘Manga-O-Rama!‘ cosplay contest.

Madrid Games Week, will be held from 18 to 21 October at Feria de Madrid, organised by IFEMA and AEVI.
