Spain knocked out of World Cup by Russia

Spain is out of the World Cup after losing to Russia on Sunday by 4-2 on penalty kicks. It had been 1-1 after 120 minutes. The hero of the match was Russian goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev, after saving penalty shots from Koke and Iago Aspas.

In the penalty shootout, Russia scored all four of their attempts, with Akinfeev making an incredible save on Aspas to send the home fans wild in Moscow.

Russia will now face either Croatia or Denmark in the quarterfinals next on Saturday.
